Event at the Zoological Society of London
24.02.2010 by chagosadminOn behalf of the Chagos Environment Network, and in collaboration with Global Ocean, the Zoological Society of London is pleased to invite you to an evening of talks and discussion on the Chagos.
The Chagos Protected Area: A Unique Scientific and Conservation Opportunity for the UK
The public consultation on whether to establish a Marine Protected Area in the Chagos, a UK Overseas Territory, draws to a close on Friday 5th March. Two days in advance of this deadline, the Zoological Society of London invites you to an evening of talks and discussion to celebrate the wonders of the Chagos and the impact of fishing on this area.
Britain has a rare opportunity to protect this marvellous but fragile natural environment, creating a conservation area comparable in importance with the Galapagos or the Great Barrier Reef. If established, the Chagos Protected Area would be the largest marine reserve in the world and play a vital role in fulfilling the UK’s global international conservation commitments.
The power to persuade the government is in our hands for two more days!
